Sewer Emergencies

In the event of a sewer emergency, contact 303-833-5505 or 1-877-854-5453.

Over the past few months, the District has received calls from residents expressing concern about plumbers in the District recommending removal/replacement of their entire sanitary sewer service based on their efforts to open a blocked line. Northwest Lakewood Sanitation District is bringing this matter to your attention because replacement of a sewer service line can cost thousands of dollars. Although in some cases, a full remove/replace may be necessary, the District recommends prior to agreeing to any construction work you consider obtaining a second opinion and/or video your line to verify the necessity of the replacement. A few hundred dollars of diligence may save thousands. If video is undertaken, observe the monitor as the line is being televised to assure the final video footage is your line, and make sure to receive a copy of the video for your records.

  • If you have a sewer backup, call the District at 303- 833-5505. The District's maintenance personnel will verify the main line in front of your home is clear.
  • To help avoid issues with your sewer service, do not plant deep-rooted trees over or adjacent to the line.
  • Check with your homeowner's insurance carrier as many companies offer coverage or special riders for damage from a sewer backup.

If there are any questions or concerns, please email the District website for more information.
